DESCRIPTION - For the first time since its introduction 35 years ago, the American Silver Eagle has a new design for the reverse (tails). The original heraldic eagle design created and sculpted by the US Mint's 12th Chief Engraver, John Mercanti, has been retired.

And the new reverse features an eagle coming in for a landing with an oak branch its talons. Type 2 Silver Eagles with labels signed by the Engraver, Michael Gaodioso.

These beautiful coins are certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being from the very first batch of new coins released by the mint on the very first day! NGC also awarded these coins the highest possible grade of MS70, which means that that these coins are PERFECT!

This listing is for a 2021 T-2 American Silver Eagle certified by NSC as "First Day of Issue", MS70, AND SIGNED BY Michael Gaodioso, (the Engraver). 2021 is a key year for the American Silver Eagle, which has been minted since 1986. For the first time, we'll see a design change with a fresh design replacing the original that's graced the reverse of all American Silver Eagles since 1986.

Sometime this year, production of coins with the current design will stop for good. These 2021 coins are referred to as "2021 Type I". Eagles with the new design will start production; these coins are referred to as "2021 Type II".
